Renovation Week 3: June 1 - 4th

For circumstance beyond my control, including one Italian national holiday, most of the workers only came three days this week. However, the eletrician started his work and laid out most of the electric tubing and boxes for outlets and switches.

The old wooden door left at the secondary entrance is quite large. While it can be stylish when given a new coat of paint, it has very poor insulation. So I decide that it is best to replace it with a more modern aluminum frame with large glasses to allow plenty natural light and energy saving.

Looks much better without those doors

The old doors have to be properly disposed along with their original glass panes.

When I first started the project, I did not expect to have to redo the entire electrical system, but in order to bring it into compliance with modern building and electrical code, it had to be done at extra expenses. To reduce the work time, we decided not to bury the wires in the wall. Instead the electrician installed visible tubes on the walls.

Central plumbing line space
The plumber began his work, first by creating a space to install a central line control for plumbing

The plumber turned to be a pastor who leads the local Mormon church and he has given me some very good advice, not just limited to plumbing. However, this one is really necessary as we need to install four showers, two toilets, a bidet, washing machine, two water heaters, and it is made much easier by having a central control.

By the end of week three, the main structures are already in place and the basic physical layout for the electrical wires are set. Week four will bring more serious plumbing work to route the pipes in their designated places. For the walls, the workers will begin putting stucco on mesh net and making other refinement.
