Renovation Week 5: June 14 - 18th
This week we hit a hiccup as the bricklayer/tile-setter wanted too much time and
money to finish the last 20-30% of the work, which is the create the raised
floor over the plumbing foundation and put tiles on the floor and walls in the
change rooms and bathrooms. Since he wanted 7-9 days to finish the work that I
confirmed with others which should take no more than 4-5 days, at a higher
price. I told him that I have a fixed budget and time and that is my final offer
to him, especially considering the totality of his work and earning already. He
decided it is not enough, so I had to let him and his crew go. I kept the
plumber and his assistant, and through him, I was able to find a painter who
charged much less than the bricklayer's recommended painter.
This week
because we had to check with several crews for the price estimate on the tile
and floor work, that part was stalled and most of the work is painting.
2 x 80-liter Thermex water heaters installed
Most of the week involved cleaning up the walls and preparing them with several layers of different materials to build a foundation, to patch up the holes and make everything look smooth and ready for color painting.

The main entrance area is cleaned up and prepared for color painting
The rooms are starting to look much better after few layers of fresh coating were applied.
View from the back toward the secondard entrance. All nice and white.
We had to bring some sand for mixing with concrete for building the
change room floor
While the search for the crew to work on the floor and tiles continues, we have narrowed down to a candidate by Friday. So first we got 2 cubic meters of sand and 15 bags of concrete powder for when we are ready to go with a new crew next week.
Next week we expect the painting will continue and the electrician will return to finalize the electrical work, installing wires, tubes, lights, etc.
